Voetvolk

Voetvolk (2006) is the dance company founded by dancer/choreographer Lisbeth Gruwez and musician/composer Maarten Van Cauwenberghe. Their work is the essential artistic expression of an animated body in response to the complexity of life and the world. The duo aims to create dance performances that resonate with a diverse audience, including both connoisseurs and critics, thanks to a dance language that expresses a way of ‘being in life’.

Characteristic of Voetvolk’s work are an expressive, sensitive, adventurous yet accessible dance language, a detailed visual imagination and a subtle yet razor-sharp dialogue between dance and sound design. Lisbeth Gruwez and Maarten Van Cauwenberghe share a unique artistic DNA that they have developed both consciously and intuitively. The chemistry between the two creates an organic symbiosis within a clear, multifaceted framework in which auditory and visual physicality remain constantly alive.
