educational programma
Thanks to the educational programme of hetpaleis, we welcome the most diverse audience in the country: from nursery school children to final-year students, from pupils in general academic streams to those in more vocationally oriented courses, and from special needs education to OKAN classes. Each season, we offer a comprehensive educational programme that is closely tailored to the lives of children and young people.
How do we prepare a class for a visit to hetpaleis?
A theatre experience begins outside the theatre. We prepare every pupil coming to see a performance at hetpaleis by providing them with the right tools for watching and the necessary guidance.
video on theatre etiquette
Before the performance, every class receives an email from hetpaleis containing a video about our theatre etiquette. In this video, actor Joris Hessels uses animation to explain how a visit to the theatre works and what the rules are. It’s perfect for watching in class, so that all pupils are well prepared and their visit to the theatre becomes an even more enjoyable experience.
There are different versions of the video available: one for nursery and primary schools and one for secondary schools.
spot, digital educational material
For every hetpaleis performance we create a ‘spot’.
The spot is in-depth, interactive digital material that goes beyond the traditional teaching map. Through playful activities, you’ll learn more about the themes of the performance and be encouraged to reflect and discuss.
The spot serves both as an introduction and as a tool for further exploration of the performance’s content in the classroom afterwards.
intermediation
For certain performances, we provide introductory talks at schools or pre- or post-performance discussions. Specific school workshops also help pupils become even more familiar with the content of the performance.
