Sooner or later, the monster of the night pays a visit to everyone.
It’s a strange visit: something whispers in your ear, and yet you feel completely alone.
The monster of the night has many names.
Some call it “fear,” or even “death,”
while others call it “stress” or simply “change.”
Sometimes the monster of the night stands by your bed, silent as a mouse.
But very often, it just can’t stop talking.
And when the sun rises, it’s gone again.
With NACHT (NIGHT), Jonas Baeke and Mats Vandroogenbroeck have created an intimate performance about fear. They portray a character who is overcome by a sense of dread at night. But what happens if we say “hello” to the monster? If we don’t try to chase it away, but talk to it instead? Are we still alone then? Are we still afraid?
NACHT (NIGHT) is the third collaboration between Mats and Jonas in the field of youth theater. Their previous
performances, “Bambiraptor” and “Infinity Forever,” were both selected for the TheaterFestival. For this new performance, they expand their richly visual universe and enter the world of puppet theater.
