specially for teachers

Karolina Maruszak

hetpaleis has an extensive schools programme. As a result, we are in contact with all the children and young people growing up in the city. How do you ensure they are prepared and curious when looking at art? And how do you incorporate their voices into our artistic activities?

On this page, you’ll find additional tools, support and exclusive activities and events for teachers.

try-outs

Would you and your pupils like to engage in a conversation with a director, actors or other artists? Register for one of the following artistic collaborations.

attend a try-out

You and your class attend a rehearsal of a new theatre production. The artists show the work they are creating. Afterwards, the pupils discuss what they’ve seen or experienced with them. A rehearsal process is a journey of discovery: the pupils’ voices can play a decisive role in this process.

take part in an artistic preliminary study

Some theatre productions arise from a collaboration with children or young people. Pupils discuss or work with the director on a specific theme. In this way, they help to provide the content for the performance.

interested?

Let us know via educatie@hetpaleis.be. State your school, the pupils’ year and, if necessary, their subject area. We’ll be in touch if there’s anything that is suitable for your class. We want to hear the views of pupils of all ages, schools and subject areas. All these artistic collaborations are free of charge.

premieres

premieres are free for teachers and supervisors. You get to see the performance in advance to prepare your class for the theatre visit. As a teacher, you are entitled to only one ticket. Please note that places are limited.

season launch for teachers 27-28

At hetpaleis, teachers always get a little head start. That’s why they’re first to get a glimpse of the new season’s programme.

We’ll kick things off with a group lunch before diving into the school programme, presented live by the creators of the main auditorium performances and staff from hetpaleis.

The season presentation for teachers takes place every year in May. And keep an eye on our newsletter for teachers for the launch of ticket bookings.

ambassadors’ council for teachers

Thanks to the ambassadors of hetpaleis, we keep our finger on the pulse of what’s happening in the lives of children and young people.

The ambassadors’ council for teachers includes teachers and education professionals. They sit down with us to discuss specific topics, such as the programme, audience engagement, communication, etc.
