Everyone has their own rhythm. But what happens when those rhythms intersect? A flamenco dancer and a stepper let their bodies speak as percussion instruments: they build up an exhilarating dance full of complex pulsating rhythms.
Live electronic sounds drive them forward – sometimes supporting them, sometimes challenging them, always surprising them.
Re:Beat doesn’t stop at the edge of the stage. Everyone is invited to join in. To feel how rhythm flows through the body. To discover how it moves, collides and connects.
After FeL and FRAMED, choreographer Karolien Verlinden returns to hetpaleis with a new rhythmic project. Re:Beat is a body score as a shared sensory experience. In the playful encounter between rhythms and dance styles, a story emerges about singularity and difference, collaboration and empathy – tailored to everyone with a heartbeat.
prepare for your class visit
In order to minimise disruption to the performances, hetpaleis requests that you switch off your mobile phone before the start of the performance. Eating, snacking, drinking and photography are not permitted.
Responding to the performance is of course allowed, and even encouraged!
