Wavelength
How are you? - Can you dance a conversation?
Antigone/Haider Al Timimi & Lucius Romeo-Fromm
The heat is on. Lucius and Haider dance a conversation. They don’t yet know whether it’s going to end in a duet or a duel. Clashing opinions, misunderstandings, sensitivities and frustrations lie in wait. They enter the fight with the weapons at their disposal: their words and the language of dance. They listen, shout and whisper in a charged pas de deux. Their moderator? A synthesizer that amplifies, drowns out or harmonizes their voices.
One thing is certain: neither of them will leave until the conversation has come to a complete end. Until they’ve heard and felt each other’s wavelength. Because it’s necessary. Because today it’s damn well necessary.
Wavelength is the stage translation of a real conversation between Haider Al Timimi and Lucius Romeo-Fromm about our polarized world. One arrived in Belgium from Iraq, the other from the US. They shared their concerns about the world: about echo chambers, cancel culture, our place in the cosmos and world views drifting so far apart that living together seems impossible. From there, they set off, dancing, in search of a possible answer.
