A show about goodbyes and stretching time, about loss and longing, about how things were and what remains. Two brothers engage in an intimate dialogue through dance, music and visual art. A back-and-forth between the one who leaves and the one who stays behind.
Between melancholy and anger, deathly silence and a wild din, between bitter and sweet, lightweight and pitch-black …
A story with few words that invites us to pause for a moment in a world where there are scarcely any rituals left for mourning.
The title de berg comes from the Japanese legend of Mount Nara, to which people were taken by their loved ones to spend their final hours.
de berg is yet another wonderful example of how art, precisely because it defies our conventional approach to death, can be all the more comforting.
selection of the ambassadors

Our youngest ambassador team consists of about twenty children and young people between the ages of five and twenty. They attend premieres and festivals, sit in on rehearsals, give their unfiltered opinions on performances, engage in conversations with creators, and meet monthly to discuss their experiences at hetpaleis.
They’re also budding programmers. Together, they watch a number of performances. This season, after thorough research, *De Berg* emerged as “the ambassadors’ choice.”
From the ambassadors’ jury report: “There’s a lot to discover about joy and loss. The older you are, the more you can understand.” — Yuna (12 years old)
