Every year, countless spruces and pine trees are felled, but what do those trees themselves actually think about this? Do they queue up every year, eagerly waiting to be chosen, or do they cower behind one another, only to be felled anyway?

‘Oh oh oh dennenboom’ is a charming, delightfully rebellious and richly staged family show, complete with live music (ranging from rickety Christmas classics to grungy pine trees) set against a stunning pine-tree backdrop.
Volkskrant

In Oh oh oh dennenboom, we get to know the trees in the forest. There is the elder tree – once uprooted and replanted – who is now the source of all information about what goes on among humans (played by Hendrik Kegels). There is a suicidal tree, which is just dying to be chopped down, but which, with three scrawny branches, is unsuitable for Christmas (played by Frank Focketyn).

And then the felling season begins; the tragedy has started. But this year is different. This year, they’ve had enough! Time for a pine revolution. Will the trees succeed in establishing new traditions among humans?

  • The performance was breathtaking from start to finish. The question now is whether we’ll go ahead and put up an artificial tree next year after all, or not?

  • I’d already been to see *Oh oh oh dennenboom* with my school, and then again with Mummy and a friend, and we thought it was absolutely brilliant!!!
    — Selma, a visitor
  • Never before has anything captured my hatred of Christmas quite like this bonkers show! Laughter, roars of laughter, howls of laughter, raucous laughter and even a tear welling up when the ever-hilarious Frank Focketyn cleared his throat and belted out.
